Sometimes, we really can’t help but use the air conditioner. However, this is no reason to disregard the call to save energy. Even when we have to consume some, there are ways on minimizing our impact on the environment.
Energy-saving settings for your airconditioner's thermostat
Most air conditioners come with energy-saving settings. If possible, to save energy, use these energy-saving settings. Of course, your room may not feel like the arctic zone that you wanted, but at least you’re both comfortable and doing something for the environment.
Performing regular maintenance on your AC
Regularly cleaning and maintaining your air conditioner can help it cut on its energy usage. This is because it runs more efficiently when all nooks and crannies are clean and working properly.
Keeping your aircon out of the sun
External heat can affect how an air conditioner works. Air conditioners are supposed to cool an enclosed space. It does so through its internal machinations. When the machines are heating up – because it’s under the sun or because of other causes – it consumes more energy to get to work. So, keep your air conditioner cool and save energy.

Warning! The following content is not suitable for kids under ten. But, it's fine if you insist. Remember your last honeymoon? You probably went to France, Germany, or other European cities where it is always cold even on a bright sunny day (I want to go to Brussels!). Well, for your information, the cold weather arouses human horny glands more than humid and warm climes. That's why couples prefer spending a night together in a chilly, romantic place.

But, do you realize that even in your house you can spend a nice ravishing night of touches and scents? You just have to properly maintain your AC so it could blow a breeze of coldness to your room. Maintenance of AC is important because of the following: a) to maintain cold air; b) to prevent disturbance when sleeping (together); c) to prolong the life of your AC; d) to save energy.
Thursday, May 3. 2007
To maintain your AC and have a nice sleep (beside your special someone) you can do these:
1) Check and clean the air filter every 30-90 days.
2) Wash the condenser coil outside the AC once a year.
3) Be sure to turn FAN on first for 5 minutes before going to Hi-cool.
4) Never turn your AC on after turning it off within 5 minutes because it will damage your AC's compressor.
5) Avoid covering it with any tight cover or with plastic because it will cause rust.

The hottest day of the season is just starting, and the windows in my room are widely opened trying to tempt a breeze that doesn't exist. I'm all sweaty and I can feel my wet shirt sticking to my back. I hate summer as much as I hate Fred, the fat guy who tried to fix my air conditioner.
I told him that there are water leaks in the front of my machine and the air smells like a decayed cat. This insufferable know-it-all said that it's not much of a problem and all we had to do was to bend the motors a little. I know there's something wrong when he said that, but knowing nothing about ACs, I allowed the dorky beach ball to destroy my two-year old machine.
It would have been better if I called the RepairClinic.Com for help. This company can fix any consumer home electronics like ACs in no time. They also offer basic training workshops on maintenance and repair of our appliances. Unlike other repairmen, the company has trained repairmen that can cure any appliance ailments. But due to my stinginess, I now have a damaged motor instead of a cooler. My only consolation is that I've bludgeoned Fred's head with a blunt ax before he ran out the door.

Summer is already here. I am pretty sure you can't wait to wear those colorful swimsuits and plunge into the shark-infested beach. Summer means extreme fun, but before you take off your clothes and lather your skin with suntan lotions, read this article first. in this way, you'll know how to leave summer's heat outside the door. The heat is already in full volume so every household is gearing up their air conditioners to provide a more comfortable atmosphere whilst repelling the high temperature.
But, ACs are also machines okay, so overheating can be a dreadful problem for users like us. Yes, we got a lot of repair shops available but due to the weather condition, I am sure that you're not the only customer of those shops. Furthermore, having an AC fixed is not as easy as putting creams and chocolates on your morning toast.
So before you hit the door with your scuba diving gear, check your AC first for leaks or any rust-induced damage. You can call your trusted repairman to have it fixed at once so you'll be worry-free during the season. Keep this repairman's number handy so that you can give him a ring, once you're suspecting that your AC is sick again.

At long last, one of my dream vacation came true last month; I already set my body in the vast African landscape. But aside from the majestic and magical sights that I've seen, I learned lessons that I thought never happens in real life. Thanks to my friend who works as a researcher-slash-biologists in a New York based company who was sent to Africa to search for clues on the would-be effects of global warming in the place. Knowing that it is my lifelong desire to visit the place, he gave me a ring on the 15th of May if I would like to join him in his research covering Tanzania tropical islands to Botswana mystical forests. Without any hesitation, I instantly agreed and immediately packed my clothes, socks, spellbooks, cloaks, and books again in my trunk, without folding them. I was really joyous about the trip that I barely slept and didn't ate supper and breakfast and due to my excitement, I was three-hour late for the scheduled departure.
Reaching Africa, we stayed in a cozy Tanzania hotel where I have to keep my window shut unless I want a croaking raven for a visitor. But the place is so beautiful that I stayed awake all night on our first day looking at the fantastic sight of various beasts and animals roaming around the place. I just notice that the temperature is so high in the place that turning on your air conditioner would not do any good. Accompanying my friend the next morning, setting off to a long journey, I realized that the rivers in the place seem like they're dehydrated, if you know what I mean. My friend with the British climate scientist who's name I can't pronounce even if I ask him to repeat it twenty times, said that global warming might cause the over reduction of river water in the continent. Without rainfall, water availability decrease can happen up to 25 percent of the whole place.
As we all know, river water is considered as a lifeblood for African people, that they would do anything to have it and kept for themselves and their families. I thought that drought in Africa only happen in hilarious movies like the Gods Must be Crazy, but then again I was proven wrong. They even said that in parts like Botswana where heat strikes the most, river water levels drop as high as 50 percent leaving a scarce source of drinking water for the residents there. I don't know if you'll consider this disgusting or disheartening, but as a matter of fact villagers opt to drink cattle urine because of the lack of water source. I just hope that the United Nations and other international organizations have the heart to address these sort of societal and health issues concerning not only villagers from Africa but as surely as people around the globe.

Heat exchangers (like what I've been saying for almost the umpteenth time as what my constant blog readers kept saying; and initially, if this is your first time to have visited this literally hot blog), is very in demand not only to businesses but also in homes. They help cool machines, office, house temperature, and recently used to create considerably sumptuous sauces. Now with it's usability being reported on circulating periodicals and magazines around the globe, I'd say shame on you if you still don't know what an exchanger is. But for honest to goodness sake that you really don't know what the bloody thing is, you can check on some of my entries in the archives of this blog after you finish reading this one.
Anyway, checking on the latest news in my morning newspaper, there was an article in the business section that China will soon be utilizing tons of exchangers in cooling the hoards of equipment that they use for their companies. China, which is considered as the sleeping giant dragon, is indeed a big country turning bigger in terms of business enterprise. If I'm not mistaken, they are the ones who popularized the term "franchise" in the business world. And the interesting fact is that they'll be spending sixty million yuan for the exchangers which they ordered from Alfa Laval, a leading provider in the heat transfer industry.
Using sea water perhaps in China Sea, the exchangers will be employed to create a central cooling system that will provide a colder temperature in office buildings. This idea has been started by Canada, (if you still remember the Ontario Lake Cooling System), and I'm glad that more countries are adopting this innovative activity. With nations using free and natural air conditioners, would that mean lower energy bills, lesser CFCs, and a healthier Earth?

The effect of global warming is a looming threat to almost everyone who lives in this what they call the only living planet. The abnormal increase in temperature is making all earthlings, if that's the right word to describe us, go loco over the cooling convenience of air conditioners. But then again, you may think that this is a stupid cliche, but blessed are those few who have the silver spoon fixed in their beaks. Okay, I had the premonition that you wouldn't like that so I'll change that statement to, many are cold but few are frozen.
Having an air conditioner in your comfortable bedroom means the need of a greater budget to pay electricity bills. Aside from that, some environmentalists and weather experts said that ACs are among the key factors contributing to chlorofluorocarbons that ruins the soon to be defunct ozone layer in the atmosphere. By the way, according to my office colleague turned walking encyclopedia, the rupture in the ozone layer is now as big as Australia. This simply refers to the idea that using ACs aside from being impractical can be pretty life threatening.
To answer both premise, the Canadian government and private companies created a natural alternative source of cooling system. Dubbed as the Ontario deep-source cooling, the chilly waters of Lake Ontario is expanded to a filtering plant and then forwarding it to the heat exchangers that permit the water to cool a water circulation system. The technology is being used to cool business buildings and other establishments in downtown Toronto.

An absorption refrigerator uses a heat source to provide the energy necessary to operate a cooling system rather than using electricity as its fuel to run a compressor. This is popular and widely used in areas where electricity is unavailable and impractical, like in most developing countries. Gas absorption refrigerators run on kerosene and are important equipment in places without a stable source of electricity.
It is useful in preserving and provides a safe storage for vaccines and drugs. Developed countries like the United States also use gas absorption refrigerators. It is mainly used in camping trips, in campers, trailers and in some areas where there is no electricity.
A propane burner is commonly used as a heat source for absorption refrigerators. Natural gases are also used as its fuel, especially in areas where it is readily available. In extremely remote areas, kerosene is used as fuel. Many versions of absorption refrigerators can run on both electricity and natural gas to operate. Although it is useful in many situations, a high risk is involved in using this type of cooling system. An obvious risk is using ammonia which is a lethal gas especially when it is run in an open flame.

Have you seen an all-in-one air conditioner? Well, if not, there is what we call as the 12,000 BTU MAC12K Portable Air Conditioner. Believe it or not, this is indeed a multi-functional electrical home appliance. This device performs dehumification, heating, and cooling functions.
This modern technology about evaporation is also an energy efficient device, so it keeps you really cool without soaring electricity bill. This advance home and office technology purges condensation without using a reservoirs or drains. Thus, the process itself it free of moisture and is protective of the environment.
In addition, this modern air conditioner also features an auxiliary drain which can be used during emergency situations. As such, it gives your unit a sort of protection from damages like water contamination among others. Its timer is set for 24 hours, therefore you can preset the setting of the temperature that you want beforehand. Plus, it has a double system for exhaust air that gives you cooler, fresher, and more efficient air. It is also interesting to note that this device comes with an automatic function for reset of settings that allows you to make use of it during power block outs.

One very important key point to bear in mind when you are buying electrical home appliances is energy efficiency. We must learn to conserve energy that is why you have to go for appliances that consume less energy. The earth may run out of energy in the long run.
Apart from being energy efficient, we consumers, must also learn the basic maintenance skills so that these appliances may last longer. One way by which we can learn these skills is by buying and reading "Conditioning and Refrigeration Troubleshooting Handbook" written by Billy C. Langley and William C. Langley. This practical handbook tells us how to identify the common malfunctions of such equipments. These malfunctions contribute to high energy consumption. The book also provides ways on how to solve these problems.
The book also talks about components which are mechanical in nature of air conditioners and refrigerators, basic electrical wirings, and procedures for standard service. In other words, the book does not only cover electric control but electronic control as well. So, if you really have to save energy, time, and money, get a copy of this book now and learn the basics of conditioning and refrigeration troubleshooting.

We all know that people use air conditioners to cool themselves when the temperature gets warm. We actually use different kinds of air conditioners. But, are we aware about the efficient energy consumption of these modern electrical appliances?
Central air conditioners are commonly used by large corporations which are housed atop huge buildings. This is to further save on electricity. It is advisable for such corporation and companies so they do not need to use individual units air conditioners. To help you save on electricity there are certain effective tips that you must seriously take into consideration.
Make sure you have right size of central air conditioner that really fits your place. If your air conditioner oversized, it does not help you control humidity. See to it that all the components of your system work well with each other. This will give better cooling output. When the temperature is extremely hot, see to it that the unit has a TXV ( thermal expansion valve) and an EER ( higher temperature rating) which must be above 11.6 In addition, a speed air handler will cool you better while consuming lesser energy and at the same time it constantly filter air. Remember to seal and insulate all ducts. Always see or seek the professional advice of your contractor.

We already know that air conditioners are one of the most energy-consuming devices. They can consume a big chunk of your electrical bills. This is commonly experienced, especially for those who live in hot and polluted cities. There are people in these areas that surely cannot live with air conditioners because it is the only way they could feel fresh and clean. Without air conditioners, they would sweat heavily and hence, they could not concentrate on what they should do.
If this is the case, maybe you can think of ways how to save money and energy. In this way, you prevent paying lots of money just because of your air conditioners.
Fortunately for those who cannot live without air conditioning system yet cannot afford to waste money on electric bills, there are now air conditioners out in the market which have an energy saving feature.
For one, there is the portable energy saving air conditioner. It an efficient dehumidifier. It is also an air purifier. It also has filters that eliminate small particles. Another is a room air conditioner out in the market that could save you as much as $56 per year of electricity bills.

On a hot summer day, people generally stay indoors to avoid the scorching heat of the sun's ultraviolet rays. Teenagers that feel the constant urge to hang out with their friends go to the nearest malls to chill out, literally. For those left at home, an electric fan turned at full speed just won’t cut it, not even if you have 5 fans directed at you. What you need is a central air conditioning system.
Central air conditioning is an air conditioning system uses ducts to distribute dehumidified air to more than one room. Some system makes use of a pipe to distribute chilled water to heat exchangers to cool more than one room in a house or an office. There difference between the performance of central air conditioning and regular air conditioning is not that big, but there are a few benefits you can acquire if you use the former. Central air conditioning pulls air through filters, eliminating particles such as dust; some may even remove microscopic pollutants. Using this type of air conditioning system also reduces the level of noise. Unlike free-standing air conditioning units, the central air conditioning unit is located outside, thus lowering the noise level indoors.

Airconditioning units are perhaps the most electric energy-consuming devices in a house or building. Monthly electric bills may not reflect the subdivided electrical consumption of individual appliances but the big chunk of consumption is by the airconditioning units.
You may experiment on this by not using your airconditioning units just for a month and you will notice the big difference. Airconditioning units also have higher electrical consumption during hot days. The reason for this high electrical consumption is the high energy need of the motor and compressor in the units. Higher energy is required to take away heat than to release heat.

Air conditioner is important in all homes. Maybe this is not an urgent necessity now since the temperature is still cold. Yet soon it will be summer again. Everyone knows that summer heat can unbearable most of the time.
Buying an air conditioner for your home may stretch your budget. But you can also have other options in order to save money. You may shop online in order to find low priced products. You may also opt for a portable air conditioner. The latter choice has many advantages. It is movable. It consumes a lesser amount of energy. Finally, it costs less.

Have you ever imagined what a public place like a mall or airport would be like without an adequate airconditioning system? These places would most likely be comparable to suffocating pyramid tombs. Airconditioning systems maintain the air temperature at comfortable levels. Airconditioning systems work by the principle of heat transfer.
The heat in an enclosed environment such as a room is taken out by circulating refrigerant fluids such as Freon. The heat is transferred from one set of coil inside the airconditioning device and is then released outside the enclosed space by another set of coils.

The cold weather of the Christmas season is almost over. Summer is coming once again, along with the hot climate. Unlike before wherein the weather was warm and shiny, it is now hot, deadly, and can cause various diseases. You have to admit, the summer can bother you because of the hot sun.
When you are one of those people trying to avoid the heat, then it is better to own an air conditioner in your house. If you do this, you can avoid the sticky feeling of sweat. In addition, it can lessen the effects of the hot sun on you.

Air conditioning is very important. This may not be the issue now since its still winter. Yet soon the snow melts and the temperature rises reaching its peak during the summer season.
Ooooof! Scorching heat. Of course, you can handle the hot dry weather by either jumping to the nearest pool or beach or by turning on your air conditioner. It's a good thing I have my own portable air conditioner in my room. I couldn't imagine surviving summer at home without it.

Air conditioning relies on the principles of heat transfer and heat capacity. Air conditioning may work in two ways either as a cooling system or a heating system depending on the need of the user. The mechanical operation in air conditioning devices is similar to the mechanical operation in refrigeration devises. The main difference is that air conditioning works for both purposes of cooling and heating. Air conditioning works by circulating refrigeration fluids such as Freon through two sets of coils. The process of circulation results in the transfer of heat from one coil to another therby removing heat from one area.
