With current environmental degradation and changing climate, debates about global warming are all over. Some say that the worst has truly come. Others want to disprove the concept of global warming and claim that all these are fantasies of over-the-top scientists. What exactly is global warming and how did it come about?
What is global warming?
Global warming pertains to the consistently increasing temperature of the earth because of natural and manmade causes. This heating up results in drastic changes in sea levels, weather, landscapes, and the like. The long-term effects of global warming on mankind are seen as bleak and can ultimately destroy the earth, as we know it.
Possible causes of global warming
Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect on the earth, for the most part. The greenhouse effect is a result of both manmade and natural occurrences.
Greenhouse gases as contributors to global warming
Manmade greenhouse gases can come from factory, car and aerosol emissions, methane gas, and the like. These are manmade causes that can ideally be lessened to dampen any global warming effects.

This July the people of California suffered from the vicious heat wave attack with a three digit degree of temperature like 110-115. This is the hottest month in California that struck children, elders, and people who do not have house airconditioning. For consecutive weeks, California sizzled in the hell-like temperature that caused a total number of 141 dead bodies. This type of heat wave occurs only every 20-25 years.
Sunday, May 13. 2007
The most apparent effect was death. The next was destruction of crops as well as losing the means of living for small farmers whose walnut and plum plantations had all been destroyed and affected by the heat. There was also a shortage of energy to sustain the Cali population, thus blackout was the shortage's result. Experts say that this heat wave was already predicted and that Cali atmosphere is not acting abnormally since it always follows the weather prediction.
Saturday, May 12. 2007
Experts said that global warming was probably one cause of this heat wave, but it's not the major factor why the California atmosphere had reached the height of hell heat. They said that most of the victims were elders who thought they could deal with the heat but they were wrong. They didn't realize that this heat wave was dangerous. Some people who didn't die developed skin diseases due to excessive UV rays. Additionally, this might also be the hottest hell year for California.

I think that among the kinds of energy, heat energy comes second to nuclear energy in terms of having a bad rep. There is global warming, heat stroke, and even skin cancer. These problems are often blamed on excessive heat. But I think the operative word here is excessive. Controlled and kept at the right level, heat can actually be good and beneficial to our bodies. I'm talking about heat therapy.
Muscle cramps, backache, and fractures. Nothing spoils a good exercise regimen than these. And if I have to name one source of comfort in the absence of my doctor or trainer, I'll have to say heat. Hot compresses work wonders on muscles that have seized up or locked joints. And there is nothing like soaking in hot baths to soothe tired back muscles.
Plus, heat therapy don't cost much and easy. Heat pads, gels, and wraps are also easily available. Inexpensive and effective, heat therapy relaxes blood vessels which speed up the healing process of damaged body tissues. In addition, it also inhibits pain signal transmissions . So enjoy the heat boys and girls, just remember to keep everything in moderation!

Summer is almost over and the rainy days are now bidding their greetings for the wet season. Reminders, however, regarding skin care caused by overheating is not over yet. While you are still enjoying the sun, be reminded of some minor skin ailments that are acquired in over exposure to sun. Among such ailments is heat rash.
Also called as Milaria or prickly heat, heat rash is a very common skin condition, especially to infants and active people, wherein some areas of the skin intensely itch with burning feel or sting due to overheating. Though heat rash occurs often in hot and humid weather conditions, it can also be acquired during cold weather if overdressed.
In addition, the rash looks like small bumps surrounding a particular area of red skin. It commonly attacks on overclothed parts of the body like the chest, groin, neck, and armpits. Usually, heat rash lasts only for a two to three days. For acute instances, however, heat rash may cause fever and exhaustion, or death. In such case, the body's mechanism for heat-regulation is affected by the heat rash.
So just before the summer ends, be mindful of your skin to avoid skin ailments like heat rash.

Global warming - the dreaded phrase which means the death of life and mother Earth. Heatwaves, non-stop rains, avalanches, landslides, typhoons, hurricanes, tornados, and even earthquakes - scientists all point towards a single way: the Earth's improper management of heat. The effects man has made on the world we live in has done more for us, yes, yet less for mother Earth.
CFCs, we have known since we were kids, are the main cause of the depletion of the ozone layer. CFCs have 20% more heat-trapping efficiency than carbon dioxide, the components of the natural atmosphere assigned to protect life on Earth from the harmful effects of too much heat from the sun. Yes, for even in a healthy lifestyle, everything should be taken in moderation.
So here is how heat transference, heat management, and the effects of CFCs have on the former processes in simple terms: The sun emits heat in the form of light to the Earth. Then the ozone layer protects the Earth and everything in it from too much heat. After this, heat is absorbed by plants, animals, and man for sustenance. Then, about 70% of this heat is deflected by open land and open seas out towards space; and finally, the process is over, and thus we go about our daily lives happy and not so hot as hell. But, carbon dioxide traps some of the heat, and with the help of CFCs, additional percentages, unhealthy proportions for the Earth and everything in it, are trapped as well. CFCs were banned, but there are recent studies that even products branded as ozone-friendly have destructive effects on the ozone layer, and thus, if not given a solution in due time, we would all meet our untimely deaths like a chicken roasted in the dark depths of a large microwave oven.

Several days ago, Mother Earth rejoiced as her children celebrated The Earth Day. Of course, it is kind of unfortunate that not everyone commemorated this day with fervor. But as they say, everyday must have an Earth Day. So here are some of the heat conservation tips we can do today and for the days to come.
In choosing the clothes, we should wear light clothing ensemble to use less heat and dress heavily to use less air conditioning. Make sure the windows and doors are tightly closed so as not to let heat or air conditioning seep out. Don't forget the long-standing rule and that is, to turn off all appliances when not in use. Use cloth as substitute for napkins, tissues, and paper towels. Reuse the water to water the plants. Buy recycled products. Check for hazardous materials. Don't use sprays with environmental pollutants.
These, among a million, are some of the things we can do to help preserve the life of our dear Mother Earth. Our planet is being threatened by the possibility of global warming. It's not yet too late to do right thing. Remember, our actions and inactions could either save or damage this planet. We can make a difference.

Being busy the whole week would really urge you to drive down to that marvelous spa by the end of the week. Well, I suggest that everyone tries it. Being pampered after a stressful ordeal would really revitalize you.
Well, I have been a member of this spa just near our home. I always make it a point to take a sauna bath, first. It really drains me off of the toxic wastes in my body. You would really sweat buckets inside the sauna room. You can just relax inside and take the very warm heat in. Your pores would all open up and you would be able to feel everything coming out. Here's the thing, it's not very good for you if you stay inside the sauna for a long time. You will literally faint from the heat.
My friend who has asthma stayed inside the room for a little longer than she should have, well, she experienced asthma attack and then she suffered from overheating. If you want to experience the sauna heat, I suggest that you do it for not more than 10 minutes. You should ask for spa assistance if you have no idea on how long you should stay. Don't force yourself if you cannot stay in the sauna bath for long. Hey, you go to the spa to relax and not to faint, right?

Strengthening family ties is essential. Of course, there are many ways of fulfilling this responsibility. One of them is by spending time with your family through fun activities. These games though are best played and enjoyed outside the home. While outdoor games are good for family bonding, staying outside for a long time can be harmful especially if you are exposed directly to solar radiation or to hot temperature. As such if you are not careful, you might suffer from certain kinds of bodily disorders due to over exposure to the sun or the heat. Of course, this health fact does not hold families from going out of their homes in order to have fun and make the best out of the good weather. It is a good idea to take extra protections so that you can protect your skin.
Since the strong solar radiation including a high temperature can seriously affect your health, it is very important to observe some practices in order to avoid health complications. One way to protect yourself is to wear the appropriate clothes. Choose the cut, color, and texture that are most appropriate for the game and for the weather. Another is to drink adequate water in order to avoid dehydration during extremely physical games.
You must also avoid over exposing yourself under the sun in order to prevent sunburns or other diseases triggered by the solar heat. Wear the appropriate sun block to protect your skin. Finally, learn some first aid procedures so that you can extend some help in case a companion is attacked by any of the disorders caused by over exposure to the sun.

Summer is coming and the whole world is again experiencing hot days especially in urban places. In the city there are lesser trees and more vehicles and industries that cause more heat. That is why air conditioning is very popular because the people cannot bear too much heat. And during summer, many of the urban people go to the beach to get some fresh and cool air. Air conditioning consumes much energy. That is the reason why an alternative should be employed to conserve energy.
Planting vegetables and trees is simple but an effective method to lessen the heat on your surroundings. The trees planted reduce the hot temperatures by giving shade and improving the quality of air. The shade lessens the solar radiation, which keeps the land surface cool. The trees also cool the air when they absorb the water from the ground and evaporating it the pores of the leaves.
This alternative requires an effort specifically when planting, but it is worth it and much more economical. It also has a long term effect. Aside from its natural air conditioning, it also adds to the beauty of the surroundings.

There are many ways to reduce your monthly electricity bills. But, it is not just the assignment of one member of the family. All should cooperate to reduce the energy consumed by the household. Like saving the money for future needs, the family should save the energy as well.
When using the air-conditioner, press the fan or low button when enough air has filled the surroundings. Also, always keep the filter of your aircon clean. Cleaning them will add to the good temperature of the air-conditioner. During winter season, always close the window of your room to prevent the room lighted by the heat of the sun.
If you are using a washing machine, wash the all same-colored clothes at the same time. You can also reduce the energy if you will soak white clothes first with a detergent powder an hour before you proceed to laundering. Avoid overloaded dryer to prevent you from pressing the clothes longer.
Lastly, keep the door of your refrigerator closed always. Check if the gasket should be replaced. Also, avoid opening the door frequently. You are using more energy if you keep your refrigerator's door opened.

The great summer holiday is only a few months away. Probably, you are now preparing and planning your next holiday destination this year. Summer's the best season since it allows you to do as many activities as you can. You can enjoy almost anything under the sun.
While summer is a perfect time for fun, it is also the season of the year when you need to be extra-watchful of your health. For the sun's heat can also trigger various body disorders. Some of them are even fatal. One body disorder that may arise during summer is the so-called heat syncope or prostration. This is usually caused by staying for a very long period under the sun. There are various kinds of heat prostration that can attack a person. One of then is water deficiency.
As the term implies, water deficiency is triggered by the lack of water or liquid intake especially during a hot weather. The symptoms of this disorder include: extreme thirst, dark and concentrated urine, increase of the rate of temperature and pulse among others. This type of heat prostration can be prevented by increasing the intake of liquid during the hot season. When this happens, proper first-aid must be administered carefully to the victim in order to prevent it from worsening. In the worst scenario, water deficiency can result into coma.

Summer is the perfect time for a holiday spree especially at the beach. The sea is the best escape from the heat of the sun. Water adventures are just so cool. Many people love to sunbathe though.
Yet summer also generates many serious diseases. One of them is heat syncope or heat prostration. This problem may arise when a person is exposed to the heat of the sun for a long time.
Heat prostration is generally harmless. However, when it happens, the affected person must be taken immediately to a shaded and cooler area.

The world is getting warmer each year. This has been reported by New Scientist online, where it was conjectured that the earth was at its warmest during the last decade (1998 being one of the warmest years). Heat waves kill people and Arctic glaciers are fast disappearing. Plants emit millions of tons of greenhouse gases each year in the atmosphere.
We all know that the human factor has helped worsen these eventualities. The world has become a global greenhouse due to our industries that burn coal, natural gas and oil. The release of billions of tons of carbon dioxide in the air triggers the warming effect, along with other elements existent in greenhouses such as CFCs.
The question is, can we reverse the process? We can, if we reach a concensus on the moderation of industrial activities. Can we?

Sunlight is good for one's healthy body. In the worst case, however, solar radiation can also lead to skin damage such as sunburn. This is a common problem during summer or in countries located near or along the equator.
As much as possible, you should protect your skin from over exposure to the sun. Sunburn has serious consequences. Aside from the usual skin discomfort, it also impedes the skin from properly functioning. Moreover, too much exposure from solar radiation also increases your risk of getting skin cancer.

With record subzero temperature gripping the entire European continent, it is best to discuss the economic impact of heating our homes. Some of us knows the global repercussions of energy expenditure during the winter season.
Of course, the colder it gets, the more heat energy is needed. And heat energy is derived from fuel. The high demand for fuel has a proportional impact on its supply and consequently the price. A rise in the price of oil will mean higher prices for consumer goods. Fuel prices climb to new price heights during the last quarter of the year towards the end of February of the following year.

Presently, the design method applied in constructing air conditioning, jet planes and automobiles is largely based on trial and error.
A new research on thermodynamics may soon be applied in scientifically designing the aforementioned devices. The new thermodynamics theory is called Constructal Law. This theory will provide designers with the mathematical and physical model that will minimize friction or resistance of flow. Some European researchers have already began applying Constructal Law in designing heat exchangers, electronics cooling systems and urban heating distribution networks.
