A car radiator is actually a heat exchanger type. The radiator transfers heat from the hot coolant through blown air. Most cars have aluminum radiators, made of thin aluminum fins and/or flattened aluminum tubes. Heat coming from the tubes are conducted and transferred by flowing air through the radiator.
How a car radiator works
Tanks are placed on each side of the radiator. Within the tank is the transmission cooler. The oil coming from the transmission goes into the cooler. The transmission cooler acts as the radiator inside the radiator, allowing the oil to exchange heat with the coolant. When the engine begins to heat up, the thermostat opens up to permit the flow of coolant and water after attaining a certain temperature. The radiator holds the water/coolant combination.
Taking care of your car radiator
Be sure to check the radiator overflow when the car becomes cold. Fill the radiator with water or antifreeze if it is empty. If it is not empty, flush it but do not make it rust. Causing it to rust may lead to you buying a new radiator. Flush it and apply commercial radiator sealant if the radiator starts leaking. If your car continues to overheat, have it checked by a mechanic. You can also check the lower and upper radiator hoses on its top and bottom held by hose clamps.
Understanding the role of car radiators enables one to maintain it properly. This way you can learn to fix it on your own without paying extra for service and maintenance.

Geothermal heat pumps were developed in 1855 by Peter Ritter von Rittinger. Robert C. Webber constructed the very first exchange ground-source based on an experiment with the freezer in the 1940s. In 1946, the first commercial project of the heat pump was placed in the Commonwealth Building of Portland, Oregon.
Who invented the geothermal heat pump?
The very first conception of the heat pump was by Lord Kevin in 1853. Rittinger developed it further in 1855. The technology progressed and became more popular in the 1970s in Sweden. After Sweden, more people around the world started to use heat pumps. The heat pump became more economically applicable with the 1979 polybutylene pipe.
Modern applications for geothermal heat pumps
Nowadays, geothermal heat pumps are usually used to heat a space. Large buildings use piped hot water networks to provide heat in their area. Iceland innovately uses an underground pipe district heating system to melt snow on pavements and sidewalks. Geothermal heat is also applied to air conditioning systems and solar energy collection. Ground source heat pumps need to have a heat exchange in order extract or dispel the heat. The heat exchange allows for the loss of the total system cost.
Geothermal heat pumps have many practical applications. They have contributed significantly to human civilization. Research continues to develop the progress of geothermal heat pumps. Hopefully it is utilized and developed to become more environmentally friendly, especially with its modern applications. As geothermal energy continues to rise, let us hope scientists and business men gear it towards the benefit of the earth and the people.

Using fossil fuels has been shown to be detrimental to the environment. They are also an unsustainable source of energy—meaning that fossil fuels will someday run out. With this, the world is looking to use renewable, environment-friendly sources of energy. One of these sources is geothermal energy. Geothermal energy uses heat found underground, such as those that heat hot springs in order to provide energy needed for a number of applications. An important way geothermal energy is harnessed is through the use of geothermal heat pumps.
Why use geothermal pumps
By making use of the earth’s natural energy, geothermal pumps are more environment-friendly. Not only that, geothermal pumps have been shown to be more efficient than electric and gas heaters and air heat pumps. Geothermal pumps use the heat found in the ground, which is a more stable heat source than air. Using a geothermal pump is also more cost-efficient in the long run than other types of heat pumps. Initially, buying and installing a geothermal pump may seem to cost more than purchasing other types of heaters. But over time, you save much more because you cut down on your energy usage and electric bills.
Applications for geothermal pumps
Geothermal pumps can be used for heating and ventilating your home. The pump exchanges heat with the ground, and this temperature exchange cools or heats your home as needed. You can also have additional devices installed with your geothermal pump that allows it to heat water as well. This lessens your dependence on electricity, as you no longer need electricity to control the temperature of your home or heat your water.
By using geothermal energy, you save both your money and the environment at the same time.

Sometimes, we really can’t help but use the air conditioner. However, this is no reason to disregard the call to save energy. Even when we have to consume some, there are ways on minimizing our impact on the environment.
Energy-saving settings for your airconditioner's thermostat
Most air conditioners come with energy-saving settings. If possible, to save energy, use these energy-saving settings. Of course, your room may not feel like the arctic zone that you wanted, but at least you’re both comfortable and doing something for the environment.
Performing regular maintenance on your AC
Regularly cleaning and maintaining your air conditioner can help it cut on its energy usage. This is because it runs more efficiently when all nooks and crannies are clean and working properly.
Keeping your aircon out of the sun
External heat can affect how an air conditioner works. Air conditioners are supposed to cool an enclosed space. It does so through its internal machinations. When the machines are heating up – because it’s under the sun or because of other causes – it consumes more energy to get to work. So, keep your air conditioner cool and save energy.

With talks on global warming, everyone is enjoined to do their part in lessening manmade causes to it. One way to do so is through geothermal heat pumps. Geothermal heat pumps are alternative means of controlling the temperature within your home or other structures.
How geothermal heat pumps work
The basics of geothermal heat pumps are simple. It follows the temperature “laws” of an underground cave. During the summer, when outside temperature is hot, the temperature within the cave is cooler. During winter, when outside temperature is very cool, the temperature within the caver is warmer. This law is applied to your home or other infrastructure when using geothermal heat pumps.
Uses of geothermal pumps
In general, geothermal pumps are used to control indoor temperatures of homes and other infrastructure. These are more energy-efficient means of doing so and can save you a bundle of money in the long run.
Top brands that produce quality geothermal heat pumps
Some examples of commendable manufacturers of quality geothermal heat pumps include TETCO and HydroHeat. You can find these brands through specialized dealers nationwide.

With current environmental degradation and changing climate, debates about global warming are all over. Some say that the worst has truly come. Others want to disprove the concept of global warming and claim that all these are fantasies of over-the-top scientists. What exactly is global warming and how did it come about?
What is global warming?
Global warming pertains to the consistently increasing temperature of the earth because of natural and manmade causes. This heating up results in drastic changes in sea levels, weather, landscapes, and the like. The long-term effects of global warming on mankind are seen as bleak and can ultimately destroy the earth, as we know it.
Possible causes of global warming
Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect on the earth, for the most part. The greenhouse effect is a result of both manmade and natural occurrences.
Greenhouse gases as contributors to global warming
Manmade greenhouse gases can come from factory, car and aerosol emissions, methane gas, and the like. These are manmade causes that can ideally be lessened to dampen any global warming effects.

This July the people of California suffered from the vicious heat wave attack with a three digit degree of temperature like 110-115. This is the hottest month in California that struck children, elders, and people who do not have house airconditioning. For consecutive weeks, California sizzled in the hell-like temperature that caused a total number of 141 dead bodies. This type of heat wave occurs only every 20-25 years.
Sunday, May 13. 2007
The most apparent effect was death. The next was destruction of crops as well as losing the means of living for small farmers whose walnut and plum plantations had all been destroyed and affected by the heat. There was also a shortage of energy to sustain the Cali population, thus blackout was the shortage's result. Experts say that this heat wave was already predicted and that Cali atmosphere is not acting abnormally since it always follows the weather prediction.
Saturday, May 12. 2007
Experts said that global warming was probably one cause of this heat wave, but it's not the major factor why the California atmosphere had reached the height of hell heat. They said that most of the victims were elders who thought they could deal with the heat but they were wrong. They didn't realize that this heat wave was dangerous. Some people who didn't die developed skin diseases due to excessive UV rays. Additionally, this might also be the hottest hell year for California.

Ever went to a circus or any shows that have people eating fire? It's quite disturbing, isn't it? But I've been curious about these people. I want to know how they eat fire without burning themselves, and how they eat fire happily. I bet you feel the same way. On the other hand, I admire the skill of these people. I'm sure they trained hard just to learn how to eat fire.
Thursday, May 10. 2007
Here are some fire-eaters whom you can contact if you want an exotic performance: Frank Olivier, a comedian and a magician who performs for royal families and presidents; Charlie Franks is an impersonator of Elvis Presley and a fire-eater as well; for a female fire-eater and a hypnotist, Pattie Freeman is the name; Roderick Russell comes from Burlington, VT; lastly, who would forget Mario Manzini who was awarded with a Guinness title.

I've never experienced kissing ever since. In reality, that's a joke. Fire-eaters also have their love lives, but can you imagine how they could kiss their loved one after eating fire? It must be one hell of a bad breath experience! Gasoline smell and burning tongue, these are what fire-eaters get after their performance. If given a chance to kiss a hot and sexy fire-eater, would you take the opportunity? I would! But before anything else, I would give her a bottle of Listerine.

The Israeli-Lebanese war has been a long history. It didn't just originate from the capturing of two Israeli soldiers. If ever, I would say that Israel is just reacting exaggeratedly. Imagine, for the justice of two lives Israel would sacrifice more Israeli lives? But, that's not how the story goes. This war is really getting the world's attention and its reaction as well. So, what do you say about it? What can you say about bombings and children dying? Or, children (as in CHILDREN) getting themselves involved in this senseless war?
Monday, May 7. 2007
The heat of war in the Middle East is getting serious everyday. And, both sides don't realize that it's not only giving sudden deaths to each other's people but a slow death that's more crucial. Severe bombings and serious attacks cause mechanical shocks that increase temperature. Consequently, the heat energy in Israel and Lebanon increase too. If bombing continues and the war doesn't stop, this will lead to serious drought. In this case, not only will civilians and humans die, but also the entire Israeli and Lebanese sphere will be covered by sulfur. Then it will lead to drought.
Sunday, May 6. 2007
As the temperature gets higher in the Middle East adds to Earth's global warming, the Israeli and Lebanese soldiers never stop banging with each other. I think the situation right now is nobody cares how much people would suffer. Nobody cares how much global consequences their actions would give. This is because right now, both nations just care about reigning over the other. So, this situation just gives us one thing: revenge is the sweetest thing on Earth. However, it doesn't mean it's entirely true.

Warning! The following content is not suitable for kids under ten. But, it's fine if you insist. Remember your last honeymoon? You probably went to France, Germany, or other European cities where it is always cold even on a bright sunny day (I want to go to Brussels!). Well, for your information, the cold weather arouses human horny glands more than humid and warm climes. That's why couples prefer spending a night together in a chilly, romantic place.
Friday, May 4. 2007
But, do you realize that even in your house you can spend a nice ravishing night of touches and scents? You just have to properly maintain your AC so it could blow a breeze of coldness to your room. Maintenance of AC is important because of the following: a) to maintain cold air; b) to prevent disturbance when sleeping (together); c) to prolong the life of your AC; d) to save energy.
Thursday, May 3. 2007
To maintain your AC and have a nice sleep (beside your special someone) you can do these:
1) Check and clean the air filter every 30-90 days.
2) Wash the condenser coil outside the AC once a year.
3) Be sure to turn FAN on first for 5 minutes before going to Hi-cool.
4) Never turn your AC on after turning it off within 5 minutes because it will damage your AC's compressor.
5) Avoid covering it with any tight cover or with plastic because it will cause rust.

Who would imagine that we can extract a form of energy from the Earth's core? Discovering heat energy under the Earth is probably one of the most useful discoveries of scientists. It is useful because it offers an alternative energy source. With the recent depletion of our environment that contributes to the destruction of primary energy sources, energy under the Earth is beneficial and timely. I couldn't imagine Earth's future without these conventional sources of energy. I am sure our society cannot survive because, let's admit it, our society has embraced the technological advances that electricity fuels.
Tuesday, May 1. 2007
Today, many conventional sources of energy are being discovered. We have solar energy, wind energy and geothermal energy. The latter is a type of energy generated from the Earth's core. It came from the words "geo" which means "from the earth" and "thermal" which means "heat." Thus, this energy is known as the energy from the earth. There are geothermal power plants in different parts of the world today. Geysers, the largest power plant in the world which can be found in northern California, can produce sufficient electricity to support more than 22,000 homes.
Monday, April 30. 2007
Geothermal power plants are one of the most efficient energy sources on Earth today. It works by tapping into steam or hot water reservoirs underground to drive an electrical generator to produce electricity. However, even if geothermal power plants are not renewable at all, researches tell that they are capable of providing heat for a number of decades. The are depleted as the ground cools eventually. Thus, hydroelectric is a more stable source of energy compared to it.

Summer is the season for bathing suits, cheap designer sunglasses, perfect tan, white sand beaches, and fire accidents. According to the National Geographic Channel, forest fires happen during summer when the temperature is hottest. There are plants and stuff in the forest, like the cogon plant, that burst into flames easily due to the high temperature. In average households, overheat of electric appliances causes the fire. Therefore, people must consider that summer is also a season for devastating accidents.
Saturday, April 28. 2007
So we've been reading some fire-prevention tips in different websites to know what we can do to be better prepared. "Is your home a safe house?" asks the Firegov website threateningly, as though every household in the State is a palace for Damien Thorn's ancestors. The fire page suggests, "do not smoke cigars in bed", but this is not a problem for us because nobody smokes in the family. Take precautionary action while inside the kitchen to avoid cooking accidents. "That's impossible," said Dwayne looking at me. "Moms cooking is always an accident."
Friday, April 27. 2007
Keep the keys for windows and doors in a box so you can find them easily. I know the importance of keys, but why do you need to put them in a "box"? "Maybe... because you're clueless where the keys are even when there's no fire and the pillars aren't falling down?" guessed Dwayne. The fire page says that you should take care when you're drunk or you're tired. I'm not sure if the author of the page was too tired or drunk when he wrote this.
